AB Waste, a privately held waste and recycling company, operates two sites in Nottinghamshire, handling over 100,000 tonnes of waste annually. The company's waste processing facilities presented a significant fire risk, prompting them to seek enhanced fire protection measures.
SmartMist stepped in to address AB Waste's fire safety concerns by installing a sophisticated video flame detection system and a comprehensive mist suppression system. The video flame detection system continuously monitors the waste processing areas, utilising advanced imaging technology to detect even the faintest signs of fire. Upon detecting a fire, the system automatically triggers the mist suppression system, delivering a deluge of fine water droplets to effectively extinguish the flames. Additionally, SmartMist installed a 30,000-litre water tank on-site, which included a special fire additive to provide the water in the event of activation.
AB Waste was highly impressed with SmartMist's expertise and commitment to their project. The installation team carefully designed and implemented the system to seamlessly integrate with the company's existing infrastructure. The video flame detection system provided real-time monitoring, while the mist suppression system, backed by the water tank with the special fire additive, offered immediate intervention in the event of afire.
